Safety is an integral part of all University activities and operations, and there are many work areas and staff that provide outstanding leadership and effort in establishing and maintaining good safety practices and cultures.

Now is the time to recognise the contribution of these people/groups by nominating them for a UWA Safety Award. There are four awards: Group (faculty, school or section); Individual; Safety Leadership (individual); and Safety Recognition.

The Group award recognises safety achievements by faculties, schools or sections. The Individual awards for an outstanding contribution by a UWA employee to establishing and maintaining high standards of work health and safety.

The Safety Leadership award encourages recognition of heads, managers and supervisors for their efforts to improve or sustain high safety standards. Finally, the Safety Recognition award can be made to groups or individuals. There are no specific criteria except that it is for a recently completed safety-related project or activity.

Award winners receive a framed certificate, vouchers from the University Co-operative Bookshop and UniBank and recognition throughout the University.

Nominations are open until Friday 25 September. The awards which will be presented at a special function in the Vice-Chancellery on Monday 26 October during Safe Work Australia month.
