UWA student skipper Will Boulden (19) and his crew Sam Monkhouse (22) and Doug Campbell (20) won the Asia Pacific Student Cup 2015, which was held in Singapore at Raffles Marina, from 10-13 August 2015.

This year, the Asia Pacific Student Cup (APSC) match racing regatta, organised by Singapore Management University (SMU) and supported by Singapore Sailing, took place for the 4th time. Two UWA student crews participated in the event: Will Boulden and his crew, 2014 ASPC champions, and skipper Lachy Gilmour (18), alongside his crew of Alex Negri (18) and Ryan Donaldson (20). On the final day of competition, Will Boulden’s team made it into the final against Singaporean Justin Liu (24). The UWA student sailors’ performance outclassed that of their rivals, with Boulden’s team emerging as back-to-back Asia Pacific Student Cup champions, while Lachy Gilmour’s team losing in the petite final to finish 4th overall.

The University of Western Australia has a proud history of sailing achievements, with 1 current student and 2 alumni currently ranked in the top 15 in the world for match racing, including former student Sam Gilmour (older brother to Lachy Gilmour) taking out gold and silver in consecutive World University Sailing Championships as well as other current students performing at the highest levels in a range of fleets, classes and divisions.

Australian University Sport (AUS) in conjunction with the University of Western Australiawill be hosting the 2016 World University Sailing Championships in Perth, an international sailing event attracting student sailors from all over the world. The APSC was a great preparation for the next year' championships and given their outstanding performance, UWA students are looking likely to be selected to represent Australia and UWA.
