Outline of works

Campus Management has divided the campus into 16 zones and each will be powered by its own generator. The change-over from mains power to generator power are planned to be seamless with no interruptions, however, there remains the risk that power could be impacted.

Friday 24 July – Saturday 25 July 2015

  • Saturday AM to PM - Western Power and UWA will carry out the maintenance work
  • Saturday PM - the campus will be switched back to mains power

If you cannot demonstrate that you have sought guidance or taken precautionary measures to protect your equipment/research/other you may place any insurance claims you may have at risk of being declined.
  • High power usage equipment/machinery is not to be used (preferably shut down) until the campus returns to mains power, unless it has been cleared by the project team.
  • Ensure any external parties you may call to assist during these works have completed the appropriate UWA induction processes. The responsible officer (the staff member engaging the contractor) should make sure that their contractor or external party is compliant with UWA requirements. (E.g. air-conditioning, 20 degree rooms or water cooled centrifuge) If you wish to confirm your requirements are regarded as essential contact the [email protected]
  • Distilled, deionised, reverse osmosis and processed water systems will also be impacted. If you need more than your storage tank holds – you will need to make appropriate arrangements prior to Friday 24 July 2015.
  • Defer/cancel all activities that utilise a high draw of power.
  • Make arrangements for responding to a power outage, interruption or surge where it is critical to your business activities/research.
  • Ensure the project team has your contact details if you need to be notified of an outage, or need to know when the switch over to and from generator power occurs via [email protected]
