The University of Western Australia is committed to the ongoing development of professional and general staff, as demonstrated through the increase to funding to the Staff Development Grants to $200,000 in 2014. Individual professional and general staff are now able apply for grants of up to $1,500 to support professional development activities (up to $3,000 for technical-related development).

These grants enable Faculties/Offices to ensure professional staff have the ability to continue their on-going professional development. Grants  can be used to attend workshops, courses, conferences and other staff development activities (including tertiary or professionally prescribed study) to enhance skills and knowledge.

With the increase in funding and applications, and feedback during the Functional Review, HR has reviewed the current paper-based application process and developed a streamlined online application process. The new online application process will be piloted for the final round of 2015.
Applications for the final round open Monday 6 July 2015 and close Friday 18 September 2015. Hard copy applications will continue to be accepted for the current application round closing on  Friday 3 July 2015.

This continues Human Resources’ shift to online applications, following the successful move to an online process for academic promotions applications in March this year. The next round of applications for Fay Gale Fellowships will also be online, with further details available when applications open.

HR are keen to gather feedback to ensure the continued improvement of the new process and will be asking applicants to take a few moments to complete a short survey once they have submitted their application.
