Installation of the new waterproof coating to roof

Works on the installation of the new waterproof coating on the Chemistry Lecture Theatres roof will commence on Monday 27 July, and is expected to be completed by Friday 31 July.

The enclosure will remain in place above the roof to protect the new coating against inclement weather; however, there will be no risk of exposure to asbestos fibres during this stage of the works. Once the application of the new coating is completed, the enclosure, scaffolding and fencing will be removed from site. Demobilisation is expected to be completed by Monday 3 August.

Removal of asbestos containing material will be undertaken by licensed asbestos removalists under the required controlled conditions as per the codes of practice. The site will be secured and access restricted to authorised persons. Access into the Bayliss Building will be maintained.

Upon completion of the works, clearance monitoring will be undertaken and when successful clearance has been confirmed the areas will be approved for reoccupation.
