Is ‘get healthier’ at the top of your to do list, but somehow it gets pushed down? Are you interested in extra motivation to achieve your health goals? If so, the UWA Self eHealth Challenge might be for you.

Developed internally by a team of researchers with backgrounds in health, behavioural change and technology, this new healthy lifestyle challenge takes the latest health tracking technology and combines it with evidence about the drivers of healthy behaviours to help guide you towards better health.

The UWA Self eHealth Challenge aims to encourage you to take control and change your lifestyle to increase your daily activity. Either on your own, or as part of a team, you’ll be encouraged and supported in getting at least 10,000 steps a day. You can walk, run, swim or dance your way to that goal, but the aim is to find ways of fitting extra activity into your daily life. The research says that doing this will make you fitter, healthier and happier.

The four month challenge starts Monday May 25, and all staff are invited to participate, either individually or in teams. A Fitbit activity tracker is included (or use your existing Fitbit) to track your progress, and you’ll also receive free passes to the UWA Fitness and Recreation Centre, and the UWA pool, as well as the chance to win a variety of prizes.
