The 100 th Annual AMEB Awards Ceremony was held on 9 March in the Octagon Theatre at The University of Western Australia. To open the occasion, a selection of talented award winners and diplomates performed. Presentation of the 2014 awards took place following the concert.

This year's performers were Devin He (piano), Alex Lester (speech), Wan Yew Law (guitar), Alexandra Toussaint-Jackson (singing), Philippa Newman (viola), Megan Barbetti (flute) and Elijah Abraham (piano). Please read the program for further details of the concert.

The award presentations began with Certificate of Excellence recipients who received an A+ for their music or speech practical exam from grade one to Certificate, 100% for their grades two to three written exam or 95% and over for their grade four or upwards written exam.

Special award winners were recognised for outstanding achievements in their discipline. These candidates were Philippa Newman - Australian Strings Association WA Award for Best 7 th /8 th Grade Strings Candidate in 2014, Alex Lester - Speech and Drama Teachers' Association of WA Award for Best Drama and Performance Diploma Candidate in 2014 and Cassandra Lee - A J Leckie Award in association with the West Australian Music Teachers' Association for Best Diploma Candidate in 2014.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Associate Diploma awardees and the one Licentiate Diploma awardee for 2014 - Elijah Abraham. Successful Diploma candidates need to pass a high level practical performance examination and an additional written component. These candidates deserve special recognition for the high level of preparation and performance required.

We congratulate all concert performers, award winners, their teachers and families for all the hard work that is necessary to reach these high levels of achievement.
