The University of Western Australia is pleased to announce that His Excellency Professor Doctor Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Former President of Indonesia, will headline its In The Zone Perth Leadership Forum at UWA on 1 May.

UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Johnson said it will be a great honour to welcome Indonesia's Former President to Western Australia.  The University is pleased to be hosting In the Zone for the fifth time in our role as a global university located in the Asian region.

" In the Zone was established by UWA to help enhance our thinking and understanding about where Australia's future lies, and our role in the Indo-Pacific region," Professor Johnson said.

"His Excellency's decision to accept our invitation demonstrates the importance of the relationship between Australia and Indonesia, with WA having strong trade links to Indonesia and more than 15,000 Indonesian students attending Australian institutions, including 124 at UWA.

"The University believes it can play a role in further building this relationship through the sharing of ideas and knowledge."

The In The Zone forum is a conference that brings together political, business and community leaders from across the region to examine and discuss a range of issues important to our future wellbeing, prosperity and harmony.

The zone is defined as the time zones shared by Perth, 60 per cent of the world's population, and the nations that promise the greatest economic growth of the twenty-first century.

This year's In The Zone will bring together a group of outstanding speakers and thinkers including Australia's Foreign Minister, the Hon Julie Bishop MP; The Premier of Western Australia, Colin Barnett, and other leading geopolitical and economic analysts.
