The School of Social Sciences is delighted to welcome a new member of staff to the Asian Studies Discipline, Dr Nicola Fraschini, Lecturer in Korean. Nicola comes to UWA from Sogang University Korean Language Education Center and this semester he is coordinating our first year Korean undergraduate unit KORE1401 .

Dr Fraschini studied East Asia Languages and Cultures in Italy at the University of Venice, majoring in Japanese with a minor in Korean. After completing his BA Dr Fraschini went to Korea with a scholarship for language training from the Korea Foundation. He lived in Korea for 10 years, doing his language training before going on to complete an MA and PhD in Korean language and culture education at Korea University. After being awarded his PhD in 2012, Nicola was appointed as a lecturer at Sogang University Korean Language Education Center where he taught Korean language courses for foreigners and some Korean Culture Pedagogy course for Koreans.
