The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is creating a west-bound (away from the CBD) bus-only lane on Mounts Bay Road, from Hackett Drive to Broadway.

The new lane will benefit people wanting to travel to The University of Western Australia.

The bus-only lane will help Transperth provide a more reliable bus service by bypassing congestion and helping road traffic flow more smoothly.  It will also support the University's efforts in providing improved and alternative transport options to and from the Crawley campus.

The work will commence in mid-January 2015 for approximately six months and will include:

  • Reducing the median strip between Hackett Drive and Winthrop Avenue to create a new traffic lane;
  • Modifying the Mounts Bay Road and Broadway intersection; and
  • Road resurfacing.

The two lanes of traffic will remain open throughout the project during daylight hours, however lanes may closed during night works.

Bus stops for the 23, 97, 102, 107 and 950 services along this short section of works may be temporarily relocated, or closed, during this work.

The University will liaise closely with the PTA to provide notice to staff or students of any significant disruptions, however bus-users are urged to sign up for free ‘My Alert' email updates, via www.transperth.wa.gov.au , to stay informed of changes to their service.

For more information regarding the works please visit the project's website .
