Imagine having the opportunity to develop a marketing strategy for a non-profit organisation, build a sensory garden for people with disabilities, or support the rehabilitation of people with a history of drug use...and then get credit towards your degree for it?

In conjunction with Guild Volunteering, UWA is offering two new Level 1 Category B broadening units in the area of service learning in 2015; SVLG1001 (Fundamentals of Service Learning) and SVLG1002 (Service Learning Experience) will be available to all students undertaking any of our undergraduate degrees.

These units will add a dynamic edge to your degree by allowing you to connect your University studies with real-life social issues on a local and global scale. While our students have always had plenty of opportunities to engage in extra-curricular community service activities, this is the first time service learning has been offered through degree-level units available for credit.

To find out more about the new broadening units refer to the online flyer . You can also learn more about service learning opportunities at UWA, by watching our video .
