Three researchers from the Centre for Genetic Origins of Health and Disease have been awarded over $40,000 from the Medical Research Foundation at Royal Perth Hospital. The funds have been awarded to Nina McCarthy, Phillip Melton and Jennifer Stone. Nina's funds will be used for targeted next generation sequencing in people with schizophrenia while Phillip will use the funds to study microbiome diversity, nutritional status and gut dysbiosis in Amerindians. Jennifer’s work will investigate the effects of rapid weight loss on mammographic density, one of the strongest predictors of breast cancer risk.
