A year after the launch of the New Century Campaign , an extraordinary $218 million has been raised - or more than 50 per cent of our $400 million target.

Already, many lives have been affected in meaningful ways.

Scholarships

We have received more than $35 million to support students, helping greater numbers of our emerging young leaders reach their potential.

Scholarships open doors for students that might otherwise be closed; indeed, 97 per cent of participants in UWA's Fairway program will be offered a place at a Western Australian university.

Research

The UWA community has contributed almost $20 million to research so far, and we can already see the impact of the community's generosity in research breakthroughs.

PhD candidate and scholarship recipient, Calyn Moulton, is working to reduce the side effects of treatment on prostate cancer patients. His research will soon be used clinically, making a real difference in the lives of people battling the disease and their families.

EZONE UWA

The vision of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics  to empower people to change the world is taking shape with $30 million received from individuals and industry partners for the development of EZONE UWA.

Refurbishments to existing facilities are transforming the built environment, creating open, collaborative work and study spaces for our researchers, staff and students.

An environment capable of unparalleled innovation is emerging.

Academic leadership and excellence

More than $55 million has been raised to support UWA's academic leadership and excellence. The creation of the Fugro Chair in Geotechnics is just one example.

The work of this new Chair will be pivotal. A part of UWA's Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems, the Chair will lead a sustainable research group to address key questions of design and performance in offshore geotechnics, an integral facet of the oil and gas industry.

An Australian Aboriginal cultures museum

The momentum to create a place where we honour, learn from and share our nation's extraordinary cultural heritage has never been greater.

UWA aims to celebrate the living culture of the Aboriginal people of this country through the creation of an Australian Aboriginal cultures museum. The commitment to Indigenous heritage is vital to cultural understanding in Australia and beyond. The museum will also house the internationally acclaimed Centre for Rock Art Research and Management.

Above all, it must be relevant to our State's Aboriginal communities. To this end, UWA will embark on the second phase of an extensive community consultation led by Noongar statesman, Adjunct Professor Dr Richard Walley, in 2015.

Forrest Research Foundation

A year after the announcement of the unprecedented $65 million gift from Andrew and Nicola Forrest, the Forrest Research Foundation is established and Forrest scholars from across the globe will soon be pursuing big dreams and ideas in Western Australia.

The Forrests' donation will also fund Forrest Hall at UWA, a creative living space for rising research stars, rivalling the best residential colleges in the world.

Alumni engagement

Our alumni are key members of the UWA community. We have been connecting with graduates across the globe over the past year, to share UWA's vision for the future and our place in the world.

We've asked alumni about their experiences, before and after graduation, and we've heard their hopes and ambitions for the future. They are connecting enthusiastically with their University and each other, providing invaluable insights and driving a strong, supportive, international network of UWA alumni.
