The University of Western Australia Hockey Club will be hoping to pull off two double victories in both women's and men's first and second division grand finals this Saturday at Perth Hockey Stadium in Bentley.

UWA takes on Curtin Trinity Pirates in the Melville Toyota League Women's grand final at 2pm followed by the Melville Toyota League Men's grand final at 4.45pm when UWA tackles YMCC.

Earlier in the day, the Premier 2 Women's grand final will see UWA play Curtin Trinity Pirates at 10.30am while UWA takes on Melville City in the Men's Premier 2 grand final at 12.15pm.

UWA's Winthrop Professor Stephen Smith is Patron of UWA Hockey Club and manager of the UWA Melville Toyota League Women's team.  His daughter Madeleine (a UWA student) plays for the Premier 2 Women's team.

Professor Smith said he was delighted that UWA had managed a "double-double" for men's and women's 2014 grand finals.

The last and only time UWA made a clean sweep across both of the top two grades for the Men's and Women's divisions was back in 2002.

The UWA Hockey Club is one of the University's oldest sporting clubs still operating under its original name in the competition and a formal dinner was held in May to celebrate its 90 th anniversary.
