The UWA Business School's Winthrop Professor Sharon Parker has been elected a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.

Professor Parker's election to a fellowship recognises her world-class work in the area of organisational behaviour and psychology.

Currently, Professor Parker is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow. She is also the Co-Director of UWA's Accelerated Learning Laboratory, and an Honorary Professor at the Institute of Work Psychology at the University of Sheffield, where she was previously the Director.

In addition, Professor Parker is an outgoing Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Psychology and a past and present member of several other editorial boards. She has been representative-at-large for the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management, and is a Fellow of the USA's Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Professor Parker has published several books, including a Sage publication on job and work design, over 70 refereed journal articles, 40 book chapters, and numerous technical and practitioner publications. She has carried out consulting in a wide range of public and private sector organisations, and has generated over $7 million worth of research funding.

The Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (ASSA), of which Professor Parker will become a Fellow, promotes excellence in the social sciences in Australia and in their contribution to public policy.

ASSA Fellows are elected by their peers for their distinguished achievements and exceptional contributions made to the social sciences across 18 disciplines.

Professor Parker will join the Management discipline of ASSA, for which there are currently 11 members in Australia.
