It's extraordinary how many people around the world seem to be serious about travelling to Mars, to the extent of putting down a deposit for the first civilian trip there within the next 50 years.

Space, space travel and space exploration has always fascinated some people and, if you're one of them, you have a chance next month to attend a lecture about space travel at UWA.

The Warren Centre's Innovation Lecture, Beyond Earth , will be presented by Enrico Palermo , a UWA graduate and Vice President, Operations, for The Spaceship Company.

Enrico graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Science and is now instrumental in the delivery of SpaceClass, leading the launch program for SpaceShipTwo, the world's first commercial space line with Virgin Galactic. He is the engineer responsible for running spaceship development activities.

Enrico will talk about his journey from Perth to the Mojave Desert (headquarters of Virgin Galactic) via UWA and the International Space University

Beyond Earth is hosted by UWA in the Auditorium at the University Club at 5.45pm on Monday 8 September. Book tickets here .
