You can help research into cardiovascular disease while improving your own health by taking part in an investigation in the School of Sport Science, Exercise and Health.

A research group is looking for people to take part in exercise sessions to examine what influence exercise has on blood vessel function.

Men aged 40-65 years who are not regularly involved in sporting activities are encouraged to contact Andrew Haynes , a PhD scholar.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) affect the heart, brain and blood vessels and one Australian dies every 12 minutes due to CVD events. A large proportion of these are the result of acute heart attack and stroke, CVD manifestations which can be associated with blood clot formation.

Regular participation in physical activity is recommended to maintain and improve health, and is known to reduce the development of CVD. However, the effect of an acute bout of exercise on the blood and blood vessels is unclear, as is the impact of the type or modality of exercise.

Participation in this study will require men to take part in single bouts of aerobic exercise, resistance exercise and circuit training.

You can phone Andrew on 0457 570 218.

This study has been approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee.
