Diabetes is one of the major chronic diseases of our time with 275 people in Australia developing one form of diabetes every day.

It is a major risk factor for a wide range of complications including heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney failure and nerve damage. As such, the research into the disease and how it can be prevented, managed and treated, is also wide-ranging.

WA's leading diabetes research fund-raising group has two grants of $75,000 each available. Diabetes Research WA is offering funding for a basic/fundamental research project based in WA and a clinical/translational project, also based here.

Research projects need to be completed by the end of next year and applications for funding close this month, 29 August.

You can visit the website for more information or contact the foundation by email.
