The University of Western Australia will throw open its doors to prospective students for its annual Open Day on Sunday 10 August, from 10am to 4pm.

There will be information available on UWA's undergraduate and postgraduate courses, scholarships and extra-curricular activities.  The campus art galleries and museums will be open and there will be plenty of hands-on activities for families including campus tours, performances, competitions, sporting matches and Perth radio station 92.9 will broadcasting live from James Oval.

The UWA Difference-Panel Discussion is designed to provide insight into the benefits of studying at UWA, told through the personal experiences of current students and graduates.

Speakers include:

  • UWA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Johnson who will talk about the unique experience of studying at UWA and the University's vision for the future;
  • Winthrop Professor Stephen Smith, former federal defence minister, who will discuss his experience as a UWA Law student, how university study prepared him for the challenges of a rigorous career and why he's returned to UWA;
  • Virginia Christie, former senior representative, Reserve Bank of Australia and current Executive in Residence at UWA Business School, who will talk about her UWA course and how it prepared her for her career;
  • Rebecca Halse, an award-winning teacher who will discuss her experience studying a Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Diploma in Education at UWA; and
  • Tom Henderson, 2014 Guild President who will talk about why he decided to run for Guild election and what can be achieved in the role.

This year a new shuttle bus service will run continuously between the Reid Library and the Nedlands campus, encouraging people to visit Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts, where they can take part in 3D printing, drawing classes and the virtual tour that's currently part of the Venice Biennale of Architecture.
