Are you keen to explore your creativity? The Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts (ALVA) is pleased to introduce Fine Arts as a new major within the Bachelor of Design, starting from 2015.

The major provides options to explore creative ideas in a studio environment where you'll further develop those ideas into concepts. This process will enhance your critical thinking and ability to actively explore contemporary issues.

Now with the flexibility to combine Fine Arts with other disciplines, you can choose to study Fine Arts as a degree-specific or second major under the Bachelor of Design or Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours), or a second major as part of any of our other undergraduate degrees (Arts, Commerce or Science). Consider studying Fine Arts together with any of the following:

  • History of Art (an Arts major taught by ALVA)
  • Communication and Media Studies (Arts)
  • Integrated Design (Design)
  • Landscape Architecture (Design)
  • Marketing (Commerce)
  • Any of our seven language majors (Arts)
  • Music Studies (Arts)
  • Management (Commerce)
  • Anthropology and Sociology (Arts)
  • Anatomy and Human Biology (Science)
  • Botany (Science)
  • Marine Science (Science)
  • Zoology (Science)

Regardless of how you choose to undertake the Fine Arts major, there are a number of career opportunities. For instance, graduates from the previously-offered UWA Fine Arts degree have found success as entrepreneurial artists, curators, designers, film makers, musicians, academics, writers, journalists, editors, and publicists.
