What are women's rights and duties in Islam?

This question will be addressed by a leading Muslim scholar who will give two free public lectures at The University of Western Australia this week.

He will also talk about promoting interfaith dialogue.

Dr Khalid Zaheer, the Scholar of Understanding Islam UK (UIUK), is an international expert in the application of Islamic teachings in the contemporary business and social environment.

UIUK is a charity that spreads the non-sectarian, peace-promoting, moderate message of Islam and Dr Zaheer believes the present-day world is confronted with scourges of two extremisms: religious and liberal extremism.

Both lectures will be in the Fox Lecture Theatre (G 59) in the Arts Building from 5pm to 6pm.

"Women's Rights and Duties in Islam" will be on Wednesday, 30 April and "Promoting Interfaith Dialogue in the Contemporary World" will be on Thursday, 1 May.
