Dear colleagues,

I trust you all had an enjoyable and relaxing Easter break after what has been a busy start to the year for all of us across the University.

I am pleased to announce that we have created a new webpage for the Executive Group of the University.

What we're trying to do with this website is provide you with more information about new strategic initiatives and developments in the University, and news from across the Executive Team. All members of the team will be posting updates from their portfolio.

It's a new way in which you can better stay up to date with how we are working to build future success for the University.

There's an important part of the website where you can click to send a question or make a comment to the Executive and we'll make sure we will get back to you. It may be an idea which you think will make the University better, feedback on a current project or initiative or just something that is on your mind.

I am also pleased to share with you the University's new strategic plan which runs from now until 2020. It has just been agreed by the University's Senate and it covers four main areas - teaching and education, research, engagement and operational excellence. For each of these areas we will then develop particular strategies and actions to take the University forward towards our goal of being an even better, more successful university by 2020 as a stepping stone to being a top 50 university by 2050. You can read the new strategic plan on the Executive webpage .

I'll also be visiting faculties and divisions over the next few weeks to talk about the strategic plan. Joining me will be Deans and other senior leaders to explain how the strategic plan has relevance for your part of the University, what it means for you, and how you in your role with can help advance the University across all its various areas of operation.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
