GRADS, the theatre company based on alumni from UWA and other universities, is now performing off campus.Barry Park, director of the new production, Broken Glass by celebrated American playwright Arthur Miller, said GRADS would stage the new show at the Stirling Theatre, Innaloo.

Broken Glass tells the mesmerising story of Phillip and Sylvia Gellburg, a New York couple living in Brooklyn in 1938. Phillip, obsessed with work and his own desire to assimilate, has little time for his wife, but when Sylvia suddenly becomes paralysed after reading newspaper reports of Kristallnacht in Nazi Germany, Dr Harry Hyman is called in.

As he gets closer to the source of Sylvia's troubles, a relationship develops that could have devastating consequences on the family. The Gellburgs, forced into a frightening examination of past and present feelings, consider their relationship to the world and ultimately, to themselves. Using the Nazi atrocities overseas as a mirror for their troubled marriage and Phillip's own inadequacies, Miller weaves a gripping mystery of guilt, personal tragedy and love. He delivers a poignant and dramatic conclusion.

Broken Glass will be performed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 5,6,7  and 12, 13,14 June at 7.30pm in the Stirling Theatre, Morris Place, Innaloo. Saturday matinees on both 7 and 14 June begin at 2pm.
