UWA Business School staff were this week recognised for their achievements in teaching and research.

At the annual Teaching and Research Awards Ceremony, nine faculty were recognised for excellence in teaching, two for outstanding contributions to student learning, one program for teaching excellence, and six faculty for outstanding research achievements.

Dean of the UWA Business School, Winthrop Professor Phil Dolan, congratulated the winners and thanked the School's faculty and professional staff for their dedication.

"These awards are an opportunity for us to recognise the important and valued role that teachers and researchers play, and to say thank you on behalf of both the School and the many students whose lives our staff have changed," he said.

Excellence in Teaching awards were presented to: Gary Stockport (Postgraduate coursework), Ray da Silva Rosa (Undergraduate coursework-Large class), Marvin Wee (Undergraduate coursework-Large class), Julie Lee (Undergraduate coursework-Small class), Amy Tian (Early career), Andrzej Gwizdalski (Tutor), Raymond Chester-Wallis (Tutor), Timothy Hardy (Tutor-commendation) and Leigh Smith (Tutor-commendation).

The Program award went to LAUNCH, a personal and career development module for Master of Business Administration students, developed and implemented by Sharon Parker, Aleksandra Luksyte, Dee Roche and Lena Wang. The positive impact of LAUNCH can be seen in this video .

Service awards for outstanding contributions to student learning were presented to Wade Jarvis and the Business School's Research Office (Robyn Oliver, Mei Han, Adam Hearman, Alisoun Nicol, Eleni Stephanou and Melina Wood).

Winners of the School's research awards were also recognised. These included Ken Clements, Sharon Parker and John Watson for Dean's Best Paper Prizes, Jamie Tong for the Business School Ahern Early Career Researcher Portfolio Award. The School's recipients of Australian Research Council grants were also acknowledged.

The Faculty Teaching and Research Awards were held on 15 April 2014.
