Andy Wang, piano student of Yoon Sen Lee and AMEB LMusA diplomate, achieved 100% in his WACE music exam at the end of 2013, receiving a Special Course Award and Special Certificate of Distinction from the School Curriculum and Standards Authority.

16 year old Andy started learning the piano at a very young age, initially under the tutelage of Rebeccah Yu, then Yoon Sen Lee from 2008.  In 2011, Andy received his DipABRSM, LRSM and AMEB LMusA. His musical achievements include winning various prizes in local and international piano competitions:

• Best Performer Award at the WA Music Teachers Association Recital and Concerto Competition in 2013
• first prize in the Open Solo section and Best Instrumental Award in the North of Perth Music Festival in 2012
• first prize in the 18 and Under Solo section, second prize in the Open Championship Recital section and the AMEB Encouragement Award in the West Australian Pianists Competition in 2012
• Best Pianist Award in the Garland Music Competition at Hale School in 2012
• first prize in the WA Music Teachers Association Recital and Concerto Competition (Open Recital section) in 2011
• first place in the Under 16 Piano Recital section, second place in the Open Solo section and Most Outstanding Pianist Award (Junior section) in the North of Perth Music Festival in 2010
• silver medal at the AADGT Passion of Music International Music Competition and following performance at Carnegie Hall in 2010

Andy has performed in various ensemble concerts and also as soloist with the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. He has performed at various solo recitals throughout Perth, including the Rising Stars Concert of Yoon Sen Lee Music School, the Rising Stars Concert at Government House Ballroom in 2013 and Lunchtime Concerts at St George's Cathedral.

Andy has also performed in various masterclasses for Meng Chieh Liu (lecturer at Curtis Institute), Krystian Tkacewzki (Director of Chopin International Piano Competition (USA)) and concert pianist Denis Kozhukhin.

Besides playing the piano, Andy also plays the violin and is leading violinist in the Hale School orchestra.
