Jasmine Farghaly won the gold medal at the recent 2014 International Young Gifted Musicians Festival "Passion of Music 2014" in New York and has been invited to perform at New York's Carnegie Hall on 30 March at the winners' concert. She also won a second prize at the American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition in New York where there were over 520 competitors.

Ten year old Jasmine has been having formal piano lessons since 2010 at Yoon Sen Lee Music School. When she began at the age of seven, she was taught by Yoon Sen Lee's wife, Ivy Chan, for a year before moving on to Yoon Sen himself. She has made tremendous progress since then and won many first prizes in local competitions including the North of Perth Music Festival, WA Pianists Competition and Fremantle Eisteddfod. Besides enjoying performing at concerts and competitions, Jasmine works very hard and has a very strong interest in music.

In 2013, at the age of nine, Jasmine achieved High Distinction for her grade 6 AMEB exam. This is very rare, especially for someone so young and with the highest possible result. Jasmine loves music and practises piano for at least two hours every day. She also plays the violin and sings.

Jasmine is a student of Penrhos College and is the school's music captain.  She has performed at school and has won first prize in her school's music competitions.
