UWA Business School student Benjamin Faraone spent his summer holidays travelling through China and gaining international work experience-all while earning credit towards his degree.

Benjamin, who is majoring in Finance and Economics, completed a three-week internship at the Charlesworth Group (known as Charlesworth China), a global publishing services company, followed by a four-week internship at Forex Signs Incorporated (FSI), a market research company which identifies investment opportunities in the foreign exchange market.

The internship program, offered through CRCC Asia, gave Benjamin the opportunity to learn first-hand about doing business in China, spend time in Beijing, and further develop his cultural and interpersonal skills.

"The practicum experience at Charlesworth China and FSI provided me with an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills I have developed at university in a real-world business context," Benjamin said.

"The experience in Beijing will enhance my future job prospects as I not only have industry-related experience working within a team environment, but I was able to further develop my analytical, communicational and interpersonal skills."

During his time in China, Benjamin completed various research tasks, used specialised software, and traded with a demonstration account of $10,000-which he grew to $14,980 in the space of just four weeks.

"I was heavily involved in global affairs, carefully focussing on key events and sharing ideas and opinions with my supervisor and colleagues about what may influence the exchange rate levels," Benjamin said.

CRCC Asia offers China internship programs of between one and three months, with internships starting every month.

Undergraduate students can use CRCC Asia China Internships as part of the requirements to complete BUSN3348 Business Practicum . Recently, UWA Business School students have completed CRCC Asia internships in Shanghai and Beijing at companies specialising in global publishing services, finance, and marketing research.
