Dr Kim Isaacs, a Yaruwu, Karajarri and Noongar woman now working in her mother’s country has recently become a GP after graduating from Medicine at UWA in 2008.

Kim completed all her schooling, and most of her university studies in Perth although she took the opportunity to complete her fifth year with the Rural Clinical School in Broome. Following her internship in Perth, Kim returned to Broome where she has a large extended family and started her GP training.  Recently Kim passed the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Fellowship exams to become the first Yawaru Karajarri doctor and fully qualified General Practitioner in Broome.

While many of UWA’s Indigenous medical graduates are currently completing GP training in rural areas, Kim has joined a growing number of Indigenous medical graduates in general practice including Drs Stephanie Trust, Osman Qadri and Suzanne Elliott.
