Professor Peter Merrotsy who recently joined the Faculty of Education has got off to a winning start. On the 29th of May Peter was presented with a Perth Convention Bureau (PCB) Aspire Professional Development Award worth $5,000 at the Aspire Awards Breakfast.

He will use the award funds to attend an International Conference for Talent Development and excellence, to be held in September in Turkey.

The annual awards are part of the PCB’s Aspire Program which includes a City of Perth Convention Scholarship, nine University professional development awards and two convention travel grants to members of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, collectively worth $100,000.

The other UWA professional development award winner is Assistant Professor Celeste Rodriguez Louro from Linguistics.

PCB’s Chief Executive Officer Paul Beeson explained that the Aspire Program assists the professional development of academic institutions and not-for-profit communities. “The calibre was very high, showcasing the wealth of knowledge and expertise in Western Australia” he said.
