UWA Economics student Adam Morris will be able to invest more time in his studies with the help of ATCO Australia.

Adam, the 2013 recipient of the ATCO Australia Undergraduate Scholarship, said receiving the $10,000 scholarship would allow him to focus more on his studies.

"Receiving the scholarship will allow me to allocate more hours to my studies that would have otherwise been allocated to part-time work. I will now be able to spend an adequate amount of time studying while being able to support my family," Adam said.

"I'm appreciative of ATCO Australia for the opportunity they have granted me to realise further gains to my academic studies which have been unlocked through their generous financial support."

Adam, who chose to study Economics at UWA after enjoying the subject at high school, has already completed work experience with Carbon Neutral, a not-for-profit carbon solutions provider. While there, Adam was able to calculate the carbon footprints of various companies, and then compile reports and summaries.

Currently in his second year of a Bachelor of Commerce, Adam is also considering adding finance and accounting components to his degree in order to open up more career opportunities.

Dean of the UWA Business School, Winthrop Professor Phil Dolan, congratulated Adam on his achievement and thanked ATCO Australia for its support of the School's students.

"As one of our valued corporate partners, ATCO Australia provides an annual scholarship to high achieving students experiencing financial hardship," Winthrop Professor Dolan said.

"This scholarship, along with the thought leadership events sponsored by ATCO Australia, is helping to shape the future of business in the State."

Managing Director of ATCO Australia, Steven Landry, said, in addition to the scholarship, the company would open its doors and provide Adam with access to executives and management as part of his learning.

"Our UWA Business School partnership enables us to invest directly in the future of students like Adam as well as holistically across the programs educating Western Australia's next generation of business leaders.  It is a commitment we are very pleased to be making," Mr Landry said.

Adam Morris was presented with the ATCO Australia Undergraduate Scholarship at the UWA Business School Awards Ceremony on 28 May 2013.
