The best and brightest students from the UWA Business School have been recognised at an Awards Ceremony held this week.

At the annual Awards Ceremony, almost $400,000 worth of scholarships and prizes was presented to 33 scholarship recipients and 34 prize winners.

Dean of the UWA Business School, Winthrop Professor Phil Dolan, congratulated the award winners.

"Every award is an acknowledgement not only of your skills and talent, but also of the significant time and effort invested in your studies," Winthrop Professor Dolan told the students. "To receive an award today is truly a special achievement."

Winthrop Professor Dolan also thanked the many individuals and companies who sponsor the School's awards.

"The Business School is very fortunate to have such strong ties to industry and the broader community," he said.

"These awards, which are supported by our partners, are an important way in which we can assist, reward and encourage our brightest students-the State's future leaders."

Acting Vice-Chancellor Winthrop Professor Bill Louden spoke of the role the WA community has played in supporting the University over the past century.

"Over the last 100 years, the WA community has played a major role in the University's development and activities-activities which educate our future leaders, generate new knowledge and drive the State's growth," Winthrop Professor Louden said.

‘This same support is now helping the talented students, staff and alumni at the Business School to achieve great success at the state, national and international levels."

Guest speakers at the ceremony included BHP Billiton Iron Ore's Vice President Human Resources Andrew Carey, and Water Corporation CEO Sue Murphy.

The Awards Ceremony was held on 28 May and attended by award winners, UWA dignitaries, Business School staff, award sponsors and donors, and industry guests.
