Ministers from Australia, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mozambique and Germany as well as representatives from the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development will be among the keynote speakers at the 2013 Mining for Development Conference (M4DC) to be held in Sydney on 20-21 May.

More than 500 delegates from 69 developing and developed countries will attend M4DC to discuss best practice in achieving inclusive and sustainable development from mining and address the issues that confront many resource-rich developing nations.

M4DC is being hosted by the International Mining for Development Centre (IM4DC), an AusAID funded partnership between The University of Western Australia and The University of Queensland.

IM4DC Director Ian Satchwell said the Conference will offer an unparalleled opportunity to conduct a global conversation with people from every field of interest in mining sector governance and in particular practitioners working in developing countries.
