Dr Mihwa Lee, an NHMRC Postdoctoral Training Fellow at the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has been awarded the Lorne Proteins-British Biochemical Society Young Investigator Award at the 38th Lorne Conference on Protein Structure and Function.

Mihwa was shortlisted, based on her abstract, from a large number of highly competitive applications which gave her the opportunity to make an oral presentation at the 38th Lorne Conference.

Mihwa presented her research results titled “A multi-functional nuclear protein, SFPQ: Insights into gene regulation and subnuclear body formation”.

Based on this presentation Mihwa was selected for the award. She can attend a Biochemical Society conference of her choice in the United Kingdom in 2013 and receives $2000.00 to support the travel.

She is planning to attend the EMBO Conference - Helicases and nucleic acid translocase organised by the British Biochemical Society later this year.
