Which ideas have shaped the past century and what are the new ideas that will influence the next hundred years? Leading researchers from the fields of architecture, technology and art, history, music and Australian literature will come together to discuss this question at the 2013 Manning Clark House Day of Ideas "Illuminating Thoughts – 1913, 2013, 2113" to be held at The University of Western Australia on 8 February.

Taking The University of Western Australia's Centenary as its celebratory theme, this symposium will examine the movement of ideas over the last century and their progress into the next. Topics of discussion will include "How Australians see their Past", "The Internet of Things" and "Inclusive Cities in the 21 st Century".

The 2013 Day of Ideas is co-sponsored by the Institute of Advanced Studies and the Cultural Precinct at The University of Western Australia and Manning Clark House.

All are welcome to attend this event, to be held at UWA's University Club. Registrations can be made online at https://www.ias.uwa.edu.au/conf/2013-doi or by contacting the Institute of Advanced Studies on 6488 1340 or at [email protected] .
