The Centre for WA History at The University of Western Australia will once again run a series of Professional Learning Seminars on the Australian Curriculum: History in February.

Registrations will open in mid-December and venues at UWA will be confirmed in January. Each seminar is priced at $80 and includes resource information and refreshments.

Academics from UWA will present from their areas of specialisation as follows:

  • ‘The Black Death in Asia, the Middle East and Europe in the Fourteenth Century' (suited to Year 8 teachers), presented by Dr Andrew Broertjes

  • ‘The Environment Movement' (Year 10), presented by Professor Andrea Gaynor

    Monday 11 February

  • ‘Investigating the Ancient Past' (Year 7), presented by Professor Alistair Paterson

    Tuesday 12 February

  • '1000 years of Classical Civilisations' (Year 7), presented by Dr Michael Champion

    Tuesday 12 February

  • ‘The Australian Colonies in the Nineteenth Century' (Year 5), presented by Dr Sue Hart

    Monday 18 February

  • ‘Medieval Europe' (Year 8), presented by Winthrop Professor Sue Broomhall

    Monday 18 February

  • ‘Post-war Migration Experiences' (Year 10), presented by Winthrop Professor Jenny Gregory

    Tuesday 19 February

  • ‘Historiography of Stalinist Russia' (Year 12), presented by Professor Mark Edele

    Tuesday 19 February

The seminars held in 2012 were attended by teachers from primary and high schools; metropolitan and regional areas; and government and independent schools. The feedback received from attendees was overwhelmingly positive.
