Do you know any budding architects or design students heading into Year 12 in 2013? Applications have been extended for the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts' (ALVA) 2013 Summer School Studio, where students will have the opportunity to learn the design principles behind architecture, landscape architecture and urban design over the summer school holidays.

Who:    Current Year 11 students heading into Year 12 1

When:   21 - 24 January 2013, 9am to 3pm daily

Where:  ALVA Faculty, UWA Nedlands Campus (cnr Stirling Highway and Hampden Road)

Cost:   $220 per student, including all materials 2

1 Applications for students currently in Year 10 or who have just completed Year 12 will be considered (contact the Program Co-ordinator for details).

2 The fee may be waived for students who attend Aspire UWA schools (contact the Program Co-ordinator for details).

The studio will focus on the design of a small pavilion in the forecourt of the newly completed Perth Arena, and offer students:

  • An introduction to computer modelling
  • A visit to the site
  • Talks by architects involved with the design of the Perth Arena
  • An introduction to design by architects in Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts at UWA
  • Model making and drawing
  • An exhibition of student work at the end of the studio.

Students don't need any prior knowledge or artistic skills in order to enjoy and participate in the studio.

Students are encouraged to enrol now to secure their place . Enrolments close 14 December 2012.
