UWA Business School
A team of undergraduate students from The University of Western Australia has impressed an expert judging panel to win The Amazing Case, a management consulting competition run by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

UWA Business School students Michael Britton (Engineering/Commerce) and Andrew Gale (Law/Commerce), along with Peter Adam (Engineering) (absent from finals due to illness) were awarded first prize: $3,000; paid internships with the PwC Consulting team; and $4,000 to be donated by Atlas Iron to a charity of the students' choice.

Winning team member Andrew Gale said the competition gave students the opportunity to network with business leaders.

‘The Amazing Case was a great opportunity to gain an understanding of the Iron Ore market from experts in the field. The exposure we had to the Chairman and CFO of Atlas Iron was invaluable,' he said.

The team first progressed through the initial heat, in which they were given less than 24 hours to solve a case. The case study, based around Australian iron ore company Atlas Iron, was designed to test the students' ability to understand, analyse and recommend solutions to a business problem.

Next were the three-day finals, during which teams were given access to a PwC coach and charged with solving real client problems. The teams then presented their solutions to an expert judging panel, before joining the judges and PwC Consulting team for an exclusive dinner.

The Amazing Case was held during August 2012. Further information .
