Felicity Sheedy-Ryan has been crowned only the third Australian woman to win the ITU Duathlon World Championship in Nancy, France at the weekend.

A Human Movement graduate from The University of Western Australia, the 27-year-old elite triathlete dominated the scenic 10km run, 40km bike, 5km run course centered around the city's UNESCO heritage site Place Stanislas.

Felicity Sheedy-Ryan is a current UWA Triathlon Club Member as well as former Half Blue, Full Blue and UWA Sports Scholarship Recipient. Blues Awards have a long tradition at UWA and are awarded to sportsmen and women for competing at the highest level of university sport. UWA Sports Scholarships are awarded annually to UWA's elite athlete students.

Sheedy-Ryan joins Jenny Alcorn (1992) and noted ITU World Triathlon champion Jackie Gallagher (1996 and 1999) as Australia's latest world Duathlon champion.

Sheedy-Ryan collected gold in 1:52:43.
