The Advanced Timber Concepts Research Centre (ATC) in the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts was established to administer the research work associated with a joint venture between The University of Western Australia and the Forest Products Commission.  The agreement expired in December 2010 and the ATC Research Centre has now closed.

Projects initiated through the design research program in the former ATC will be further developed in a new entity to be known as ACT2: Timber Projects Studio.

Under the direction of Patrick Beale and Gary Marinko ACT2 will complete all projects begun and ongoing under the former ATC.

As a research and development studio, ACT2 will build on the knowledge base of the ATC and continue to carry out project based research. The emphasis will be on manufactured timber buildings and products employing engineered timbers, hardwoods and softwoods for the local, national and international markets.

ACT2 are pleased to discuss current and future initiatives with interested parties at the ACT2 Timber Projects Studio at UWA.
