Fourteen graduates and staff of The University of Western Australia have been honoured by their inclusion on the 2012 Queen's Birthday Honours List.  They are:

The Honourable Chief Justice Wayne Martin , who graduated with First Class Honours in Law in 1974, was one of only eight Australians to be awarded an Order of Australia Companion (AC) in the General Division for eminent service to the judiciary and the law, particularly as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, to legal reform and education, and to the community.

Professor Stephen Hopper , a permanent visiting fellow in the School of Biology, who graduated with First Class Honours in Botany in 1974, was also awarded an Order of Australia Companion (AC) in the General Division for eminent service as a global science leader in the field of plant conservation biology, particularly in the delivery of world-class research programs contributing to the conservation of endangered species and ecosystems.

Winthrop Professor Christopher Steytler , from UWA's Law School, was awarded an Officer (AO) in the General Division, for distinguished service to the judiciary and the law, the advancement and protection of human rights, legal education, and professional ethics and standards.

Clinical Associate Professor Deborah Lehmann , from the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, was awarded an Officer (AO) in the General Division for distinguished service to medical research in the field of epidemiology, particularly the prevention of pneumococcal infection, indigenous health, and professional organisations.

Clinical Professor Trevor Parry , from UWA's School of Paediatrics and Child Health, was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division for service to paediatric medicine and child health through the introduction of innovative development programs, the promotion of prevention and early intervention, and contributions to protection services.

Winthrop Professor David Plowman , from UWA's Business School, was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division for service to the community through support for child migrants, as the founding chair of Child Migrants of Malta, and to higher education.

Clinical Associate Professor Jonathan Rampono , from UWA's School of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, was for service to medicine as a psychiatrist through support for women and newborn children, and professional and social welfare organisations.

Dr Alexander George , who graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Arts in 1963, was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division for service to conservation and the environment as a botanist, historian and author, particularly in the area of Australian flora, and through roles with national and international professional organisations.

Dr Neville Green , who has several degrees from UWA including a Bachelor of Education, Master of Education and PhD in Education, was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division for service to the community as a historian specialising in native title and indigenous projects, an author and professional associations.

Dr Thomas Henderson , who graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1968, was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division for service to rural and remote medicine in Western Australia as a paediatrician and neonatologist, indigenous health and welfare, and as a mentor.

Emeritus Professor Jennifer McComb , who graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Science in 1964 and a PhD in 1968, was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division for services to plant science education, as an academic, researcher and author and to professional scientific organisations and the community.

Dr Russel Perry , who graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Science in 1968 and a PhD in 1979, was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division for service to the community as a leader in urban design through contributions to the sport of rugby union football, and the education and training sector.

Associate Professor Kay Cox , a UWA graduate with a Master in Physical Education and PhD and who works in UWA's School of Medicine and Pharmacology, was awarded a Medal (OAM) in the General Division for service to the sport of swimming at local, State and national levels through coaching and technical roles, and the community.

Ms Helen Shervington , who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in History in 1986 and a Master of Industrial Relations in 1992, was awarded a Medal (OAM) in the General Division for service to the community of the Busselton Shire, and local government.
