Geoff Gallop's new book
Politics, Society, Self: Occasional Writings
, published by UWA Publishing, is being released Australia-wide today.
Since retiring as Premier of Western Australia in 2006, Geoff Gallop, who graduated from UWA in 1972, has returned to his pre-political career as an academic, and in March this year was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters by the University of Western Australia.
In
Politics, Society, Self
, he focuses on matters of the self in society: of contemporary politics, pragmatics, fundamentalism, fairness, and the meaning and importance of well-being for public policy and the person.
His book is being launched by Professor Geoffrey Bolton AO at the
Australian Urban Design Research Centre
(the Centre's key partners are UWA and the WA Department of Planning) at 6pm on Tuesday July 3, 2012.
This is a free event, but RSVP to UWA Publishing is essential by Tuesday June 26 on (08) 6488 6827 or
[email protected]
.
Copies of
Politics, Society, Self
will be available for purchase on the night, as well as opportunities to have the book signed.
Geoff Gallop will also be returning to Perth in November to give a public lecture organised by UWA Extension.
