Most musicians would cut off their right hand to have celebrated composers write for them.  But for Australian International Concert Pianist Bernadette Harvey, this attention is almost predictable.  Since winning the ABC Young Performer of the Year Award, she has not looked back and has established a career that most would envy.

In a coup for lovers of fine music, Bernadette has agreed to give a one-off performance in Perth on Sunday May 20 as part of The University of Western Australia's Keyed Up! Recital Series.

Bernadette will play on one of Western Australia's finest pianos to perform a varied program featuring the music written for her by Carl Vine and Ross Edwards.

Both composers are Australian music royalty.  Among many symphonies, music for film and theatre, Carl Vine arranged the Australian National Anthem and wrote music for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Closing Ceremony.  Ross Edwards is equally revered for his unique sound world which seeks to reconnect music with elemental forces and restore such qualities as spontaneity and the impulse to dance.
