Do you have Year 12 students who are considering applying for one of the school-leaver pathways into Medicine or Dentistry at UWA? If so, they will need to register for the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT) which will take place on Wednesday, 25 July 2012.

The UMAT is administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Registrations opened in early April, and are due to close at 5pm on Friday, 1 June 2012.

Applicants will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of their UMAT results, as well as their likelihood of attaining a suitable ATAR.

Furthermore, as part of the selection process for the Doctor of Dental Medicine, applicants will need to undertake a Spatial Awareness and Manual Dexterity Test at the interview stage.

The UMAT is only necessary for students wishing to apply for school-leaver pathways for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) .

About UMAT (courtesy of the ACER website):

UMAT is developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) on behalf of the UMAT Consortium universities.  The test is used specifically to assist with the selection of students into the medicine, dentistry and health science degree programs at undergraduate level at selected universities including UWA where it is used for the school leaver pathways.
