Fairway UWA is a comprehensive support program which aims to provide disadvantaged students from any school in the state with an opportunity to build upon their attributes and abilities, improve their motivation and develop their true potential in their final year of secondary schooling.

Successful completion of the Fairway UWA program will provide students with an alternative entry pathway to any of the University's undergraduate three-year degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, Design or Science), subject to the student's preference order and satisfying the following requirements:

  • achieve an ATAR of 70 or above;
  • complete the requirements for the WA Certificate of Education; Achieve UWA's English Language Competence; and
  • satisfy any prerequisites for entry into a particular major.

Who is the Fairway UWA Program for?

Any Year 11 student who meets the essential criterion of experiencing financial hardship is welcome to apply. Students are assessed against a range of eligibility criteria and their school's assessment of their academic potential. The program is targeted at students with potential, who have a predicted ATAR within the range 65-80.

How will students be selected to participate in Fairway UWA?

  • students complete an application
  • students can be identified by the school or by self-nominating, but applications require the support of the school

What support will the Fairway Program offer?

Activities and benefits include:

  • residential Summer School;
  • online study skills development and learning resources;
  • student mentoring ;
  • a cohort experience where students develop a network of friends before coming to university;
  • access to University scholarships and financial aid
