Having recently completed the Bachelor of Commerce, student Jesse Fatnowna discusses the Marketing major...

Many people think of marketing as simply advertising products or services, but it is so much more than that.

It is a fascinating and complex process that follows goods and services from their inception to the customer and beyond, and that is why I chose to study it.

Marketing affects the way we view products and can shape the decisions we make on how to spend our money or leisure time. It is a vital part of the business process - some of the best products have failed or become surpassed by competitors because of poor marketing decisions; whereas some mediocre products have become market leaders or household names by utilising dynamic marketing.

UWA isn't just a great place to further your academic development; there are many other great activities too.

The University has many sporting clubs, and I was lucky enough to be a part of the Rugby Clubs 39 year drought breaking premiership in 2011. UWA also participates in the Australian University Games each year. I represented UWA in Touch Rugby, and spent a week on the Gold Coast playing sport and making friends from other Universities all around the country.
