It is with great sadness that UWA Museums notes the passing of Lady Sheila Cruthers.
Lady Sheila was a remarkable woman and the University is very grateful to be the recipient of the extraordinary collection of women's art, which she began. Lady Sheila had an eye for picking out the work of women artists and with her extraordinary gift the collection's focus on women artists makes it unique in the country.
In her memory we have named our new exhibition space for the Cruthers Collection of Women's Art, The Lady Sheila Cruthers Gallery.
