In Perth for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, Governor-General Quentin Bryce visited The University of Western Australia where she was welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Robson and Chancellor Dr Michael Chaney before receiving international dignitaries.

At the Vice Chancellery the Governor General received the Head of Mission of Rwanda Dr Charles Murigande, the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar MP.

The Governor General's visit to UWA followed visits by delegates of the Commonwealth Business Forum and the opening of a UWA-based International Mining for Development Centre by the Prime Minister, Julia Gillard.
