Retired Australian High Court Judge Michael Kirby will talk about decriminalising homosexuality at a Commonwealth Advisory Bureau policy briefing at The University of Western Australia on Thursday.

Justice Kirby will be one of several guest speakers at the briefing, which will be chaired by Britain's House of Lords spokesperson on international development, Lord David Chidgey, who also chairs the Bureau's international advisory board.

The CAB, formerly the Commonwealth Policy Studies Unit, is a think-tank for the Commonwealth of 53 nations and nearly two billion citizens.  Based at the University of London's Institute of Commonwealth Studies, it specialises in Commonwealth policy issues, including globalisation, democracy, civil society and human rights.

Thursday's briefing will also include a talk by Mr Moses Chamboko, of the Zimbabwe Information Centre, on the future of his nation.  Ms Rhonda Parker, CEO of the Australian Employment Covenant, will discuss engaging communities through training and careers.

The Director of UWA's Centre for Muslim States and Societies, Professor Samina Yasmeen, will discuss Indian Ocean rim politics.
