The Final Report on the February 2011 Fires in Roleystone, Kelmscott and Red Hill Research Project, conducted by Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre researchers at The University of Western Australia for the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia (FESA) was published today.

Findings include:

  • Many Perth Hills residents knew a bushfire was possible in their area before the February fires but did not see it as a threat to their own lives or properties.
  • Those who recognised fire was a direct threat to them were better prepared after attending bushfire information meetings or groups.
