More than 200 people attended a black tie Graduate Management Association (GMA) dinner, ‘An Evening with Sam Walsh AO,' at the University Club of Western Australia on 27 August.

Mr Walsh, who is Chief Executive, Iron Ore and Australia and Executive Director, Rio Tinto, delivered a speech titled "Mines, Arts and Automobiles: The Sam Walsh Journey So Far and The Roadmap Ahead For WA, China and the Next Resources Boom." He spoke about leadership, values and early influences on his career such as mentors, education and his Queen's scouting award.

VIPs attending the event included Dr Michael Chaney AO, the GMA Patron and UWA Chancellor, Winthrop Professor Phil Dolan, Dean of the UWA Business School and Mark Barnaba, Chair of the Business School Board.

The GMA is the peak body representing alumni and current students from postgraduate courses at The University of Western Australia Business School. The dinner celebrated the GMA's 35 year anniversary.

The GMA was established in 1976 with a mission to create infinite links between current and past postgraduate students and alumni of the UWA Business School, the business community and community at large, both in Australia and internationally.

The GMA holds monthly networking events, professional development programs, and an annual dinner.
